Who we are:

We are a group of women- internally displaced people (IDPs) who come together to establish a women’s non-governmental organisation in Kutaisi, Western Georgia in October, 1997. Our group was created after the Georgian population had to flee Abkhazia as a result of the armed conflict in 1992-1993.

Our organisational mission:

Development of women’s activity through educational, legal, economic, social, cultural activities to increase women’s role in building a democratic society in Georgia, in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Abkhazia, and achieving economic independence

A Round Table in Ochamchire on Protection of Women's Rights

On the initiative of the Association of Women of Abkhazia, a Round Table on the issues of protecting human rights and women's rights at the local self-government level was held in Ochamchire. The meeting was attended by the activists of NGOs, teachers and a district councillor. The participants of the Round Table talked about different problems, changes and initiatives. It was noted that "more activity is required", “all problems could be solved if there were more caring people in Ochamchire”, “we must strive for the betterment”…

The Round Table was held within the framework of the project “Learning from the experience of Visegrad 4 to advocate for equal, inclusive and democratic local governance”.
