Who we are:

We are a group of women- internally displaced people (IDPs) who come together to establish a women’s non-governmental organisation in Kutaisi, Western Georgia in October, 1997. Our group was created after the Georgian population had to flee Abkhazia as a result of the armed conflict in 1992-1993.

Our organisational mission:

Development of women’s activity through educational, legal, economic, social, cultural activities to increase women’s role in building a democratic society in Georgia, in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Abkhazia, and achieving economic independence

Completion of the stage of meetings with political parties

The stage of meetings with political parties within the framework of the project Online Vote-O-Meter for 2020 Georgian Parliamentary Elections has completed. The staff of Tbilisi representative office of the Fund "Sukhumi" this time met with members of four parties (️ "Georgian Dream", Aleko elisashvili – the “Citizens”, ️"Our Georgia - Solidarity Alliance", "Reformer"). They were provided with information about the project, the online vote-o-meter and the importance of its implementation. The project activities will be continued according to the plan.

Cultural-Humanitarian Fund “Sukhumi” representative office in Tbilisi has started meetings with the political parties about the current innovative project - “Online Vote-O-Meter - Voter Advice Application for 2020 Georgian Parliamentary Elections”. The main purpose of Voter Advise Application is to raise awareness of voters about upcoming elections and programs of the political parties. The representatives of the Fund “Sukhumi” have shared information about project with political parties and discussed possibility of their involvement in its implementation. The parties have expressed interest and willingness to cooperate. The organization continues meetings and communication with active political parties to ensure their involvement in the project.   

At the moment we have met the following political parties:Eka Beselia’s political party “For Justice”, “Lelo for Georgia”, “Girchi”, „United National Movement”, “European Georgia”.

“Voter Advice Application” implies the creation of the online platform. By answering the questions integrated in the application, the citizens will get information about  position of the political parties. It will help the voter to identify the political parties closer to his/her views and to ensure an informed choice.

An information leaflet was published explaining the essence of Vote-O-Meter: The online platform is the best opportunity for both sides - voters and politicians: The introduction of an online Vote-O-Meter is to inform citizens through the "Voter Advice Application". A political party is given the opportunity to present its program to the electorate. The voter gets information about which party is closer to his vision

How should public discussions be conducted? What information should be provided to the meeting participants about the online Vote O Meter, its importance? A meeting was held in the office of the Fund "Sukhumi" with the mobilizers involved in the project was devoted to this topic. They discussed the duration of the planned briefings. Work is carried in the framework of the project Online Vote-O-Meter for 2020 Georgian Parliamentary Elections.

A workshop on the management of public discussions

On July 10, a workshop on the organization / management of public discussions was held in the framework of the project “Online Vote-O-Meter for 2020 Georgian Parliamentary Elections”. The workshop was held in a mixed format - some of the participants were in the office of the Fund "Sukhumi", and some of them participated from different regions through the online platform Zoom. They talked about the current challenges and prospects, outlined work plans and future activities. The workshop was leaded by Ekaterine Gamakharia, Head of the Fund “Sukhumi” Tbilisi Representation. The project is funded by the Visegrad International Foundation.
