Who we are:

We are a group of women- internally displaced people (IDPs) who come together to establish a women’s non-governmental organisation in Kutaisi, Western Georgia in October, 1997. Our group was created after the Georgian population had to flee Abkhazia as a result of the armed conflict in 1992-1993.

Our organisational mission:

Development of women’s activity through educational, legal, economic, social, cultural activities to increase women’s role in building a democratic society in Georgia, in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Abkhazia, and achieving economic independence

The Article on Gender Policy at the Local Level

"Gender policy in the field of inclusive and democratic governance at the local level", - such is the title of the article published on the Internet by an expert on Abkhaz affairs.

The article discusses the functions of a local self-governance, legal support in terms of human rights protection, international practice of effective work of local authorities, and the deficiencies in the legislation on local self-governance. At the end of the article there is an important conclusion stating that “the introduction of an inclusive approach at all levels of governance will create necessary conditions for the democratization of the governing system."
